Experience

Thirteen years of work that had to hold up under real traffic.

Marketplaces, education, adtech and public services. Different industries, the same problem underneath: systems that many people depend on, and a small window in which to change them safely.

Now

Nerdy (Varsity Tutors)

Engineering Manager, live classroom

I manage the engineering team behind the live classroom where tutoring actually happens, a real-time product students and tutors depend on during a scheduled session, where a failure is a lesson lost rather than a page reload. I run delivery for the group, hire and interview the engineers who join it, and still ship code myself. Two years with the company, the most recent of them leading.

eBay

Frontend tech lead, eBay Stores

Frontend engineer on the ground-up rebuild of eBay Stores, the storefront platform where hundreds of thousands of sellers, from side hustlers to major brands, run their shops on one of the largest marketplaces in the world. I joined on the buyer-facing side and led the seller-side build for most of its development. Replacing a system that live sellers were trading on, without interrupting their sales.

ConsumerAffairs

Site architect, frontend team

Site architect on the frontend team of a consumer platform serving over seven million visits a month, where page speed and search ranking translate directly into revenue. Performance, SEO, A/B testing and third-party integrations, measured on every release, and interviewing the engineers who joined the team.

Space Adserver

Full-stack engineer

An adserver analytics platform for major Brazilian clients, built with a small team from an early repository: ingestion of campaign and impression data, the processing behind it, and the reporting interface marketing teams used to decide where budget went.

Brazilian Federal Government

Freelance engagements

For the Ministry of Economy, a site presenting Brazil’s economy to foreign investors, built end to end and reaching 300,000 monthly users. For the Ministry of Health, a Carnival campaign of internet-connected vending machines running live in three cities at once, in the middle of the country’s biggest street party: IoT automation, real-time communication and live monitoring, with no second chance if it failed.

Public sector
The common thread

Different industries, the same bar: real people on the other side.

A lesson that stops, a seller who misses a sale, a campaign that cannot stall in the middle of a Carnival crowd. Every system here was judged by whether it held up for the people using it, and each one shipped with a team, under real traffic.
